This is a great Irish police procedural and crime thriller noir. I actually started reading slower in the last 50 pages because I didn't want it to end. Luckily this author has written three previous novels so I have those to look forward to reading.

The novel is set right after the housing bubble burst in 2009. Down these mean streets go a police detective and four criminals. It is best not to know much more about the plot than that so its twists and turns will surprise you. This book is definitely a great choice for those readers who like 40’s American noir by Raymond Chandler and James M. Cain. It has an feeling of the inevitability of a bad end to the characters stories like that of The Postman Always Rings Twice.
